Kevin Sprague

Senior Lecturer in English Language, Duke Kunshan University


Kevin Sprague is an enthusiastic English Language Instructor with a strong interest in curriculum development and innovative pedagogical design. His current research interests focus on second-language writing instruction, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), generative AI in language education, teacher professional development in ELT, and the development of intercultural competence within internationalized higher education environments.

In addition to research, he is active in teacher development and travels through China to hold workshops on innovative teaching methodologies for in-service teachers. He served as an English Language Fellow sponsored by the US Department of State (2015-2018) and later worked as an English Language Specialist in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Doha, Qatar (2021-2022). He continues to support US Department of State English Language Teacher Development Programs as an English Fellow Alumni (2021-present). Kevin also firmly advocates the development of strong oral communication skills among second language learners. He is an ACTFL certified Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) Assessor and is Faculty Advisor to the English Debate Society at DKU. He offers the oral communication electives Presenting Ideas to Global Audiences and Debating Sustainable Futures.
