Dr. Pablo Encinas Arquero's research and professional interests include comparative education and second language acquisition. He is particularly interested in the factors involved in cross-cultural evaluation of teaching quality and in the acquisition of vocabulary in a foreign language.
Before coming to Duke Kunshan University, Encinas Arquero worked at the University of Plymouth, the University of Nottingham, Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University and in the Foreign Studies College of Hunan Normal University, where he was an associate professor in Spanish and English Linguistics. He has also been an external examiner for the International Baccalaureate and Instituto Cervantes examinations (DELE).
Encinas Arquero was awarded a B.A. (Hons) in Spanish philology by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a postgraduate diploma in teaching business Spanish by the Centro Complutense del Español como Lengua Extranjera, an M.A in applied statistics by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, and a Ph.D. in applied linguistics and second language acquisition by the University of Plymouth. He is currently studying for a second Ph.D., in comparative and international education at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
