Peng Sun

Assistant Professor of Data Science, Duke Kunshan University

His current research focus includes AI-assisted intelligent transportation systems, internet of vehicles, wireless sensor network, and mobile vehicular cloud/edge computing. His teaching interests at Duke Kunshan include numerical methods for engineering, machine learning, and data and computer communications.
He is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, and has worked as principal researcher/research associate for projects supported by Canada's National Defense, the Communications Research Centre Canada, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. He is an active reviewer for prestigious journals including IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, Elsevier Ad Hoc Networks, and ACM Computing Survey. He also has served as technical program committee co-chair/member for top-tier conferences including ACM DIVANet'18, IEEE ISCC'19, ACM MSWiM'17~20, ACM/IEEE DS-RT'20 and IEEE ICC'20~21.
He received the Best Paper Award at IEEE GLOBECOM in 2019. His work, A Novel Hierarchical Two-Tier Node Deployment Strategy for Sustainable Wireless Sensor Networks, was published in the prestigious IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Computing and selected as one of the spotlight articles published in all IEEE Transactions as highlighted in the IEEE Computer volume 52(3), pp. 4-5, March 2019.
Sun has a bachelor of engineering in electrical engineering and automation from Soochow University, an M.Sc. in electrical and computer engineering from Lakehead University, Canada, and a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Ottawa, Canada, where he served as a postdoc researcher from 2016 to 2020. Before joining Duke Kunshan, he was a research associate at the Paradise Research Laboratory, University of Ottawa, led by professor Azzedine Boukerche.
