Tyler Carter

Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric, Duke Kunshan University

His research focuses on global comparative rhetorics and writing instruction. He is especially interested in rhetorics that challenge modern mind/body divisions and has ongoing research about the ways that language and Buddhist epistemologies shape the rhetorics of Western meditation practices. In addition to his work in rhetoric, he also does research in writing instruction with an emphasis on rhetorical genre studies and writing across disciplines. He has been teaching writing, rhetoric, and English language since 2004 and at DKU since 2017. He holds an MFA in poetry from Brown University and a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition (with a specialization in Second Language Studies) from Purdue University.
