Xiawa Wang

Assistant Professor of Material Science, Duke Kunshan University

Her research merges material science and electromagnetism by tailoring the emission spectra of high temperature emitters with micro-to-nano structures. She worked on those devices and systems for use in the next generation radioisotope batteries to power spacecraft flying beyond Jupiter and into deep space where solar energy is not sufficient to provide any power. She is also interested in silicon photonics, semiconductor devices, and micro-to-nano fabrication process. Her teaching interests at Duke Kunshan include laboratory classes on material science, and physics classes on electromagnetism.
Wang has a B.Sc., M.Eng and Ph. D in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before joining Duke Kunshan, she was a post-doctorate researcher at Tsinghua University.
