Her research focus is the intersection of economic history, health, and labor economics. She is especially interested in the short-term effects on mortality of medical advances and their long-term consequences, focusing on developing regions. Her teaching interests at Duke Kunshan include microeconomics, economic history, health, and labor economics.
Saez Muller has a B.A. and an M.A. in economics from the Universidad de Chile, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis.
