Lie Philip Santoso

Assistant Professor of Political Science, Duke Kunshan University

Lie Philip Santoso is a Political Scientist specializing in political behavior in western democracies, with a focus on elite cues, partisan cooperation, and how citizens form political attitudes and social judgments. He is one of the authors of Heuristic Inference and the Left–Right: An Experimental Analysis of How Voters Form Their Left-Right Images of Parties, forthcoming in the Cambridge Elements in Experimental Political Science series, which examines how voters form perceptions of left–right positions and party competition in multiparty political systems.

Santoso has published in leading political science journals including European Journal of Political Research, Political Analysis, Party Politics, Political Science Research and Methods, Electoral Studies, and Conflict Management and Peace Science. His work spans partisan cooperation, affective polarization, economic perceptions, and gender and international politics.

At Duke Kunshan University, Santoso teaches courses in statistics, comparative politics, and public opinion, as well as survey, experimental, and applied quantitative methods. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from Rice University and his B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
