A filmmaker and film historian, his main interest is the complex relationship between local traditions and global phenomena. His teaching interests at Duke Kunshan include screenwriting, documentary film and moving image production.
His 20 years of professional experience span the United States, Japan and Hong Kong, and he has sold two feature-length screenplays to production companies. His work has received international film awards, including at the Hot Docs Documentary Festival, and has been shown on PBS in the U.S.
Henderson has an M.F.A. in filmmaking from Hong Kong Baptist University, where he is also completing a Ph.D. in Hong Kong documentary film.
