Weng's research focus includes language teacher education, second language writing, culturally responsive pedagogy and technology use in educating multilingual students. In particular, she is interested in exploring the intersection among language teacher expertise, agency and identity.
Her publications include journal articles, book chapters, book reviews and newsletters. Her articles appear in leading academic journals including TESOL Journal, Journal of Language, Identity & Education, International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, Teaching in Higher Education and TESL-EJ.
In addition to her research, she loves teaching and has produced textbooks, such as "Critical Reading, Writing, and Thinking and Empowering International Graduate Students through Writing". She also created a handbook, "Teaching College-level Writing to Multilingual Students", for graduate teaching assistants who teach second language writing at The Ohio State University (OSU). She was the recipient of the 2022 Graduate Teaching Associate Award at OSU.
Zhenjie has a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Before joining Duke Kunshan, she was an instructor teaching writing to multilingual students, the operations coordinator for the 2022 Fulbright-Germany Teacher Seminar on "Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Classroom," and a graduate consultant at Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning at OSU.
