Castrejon has a B.A. in English education and an M.A. in teaching English as a second language with an option in rhetoric and composition from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

His research interests are in the areas of speech processing and multimodal behavior signal analysis with applications to human-centered behavioral informatics, notably in health, education and security. He has published more than 80 papers and served as a scientific committee member and reviewer for multiple conferences and journals.
